I asked the question because...Thank you, Anonymous. I asked the question because I wondered if that tradition had anything to do with the bible's exhorting us to be joyful. Between us and God, our King, I think that exhortation probably has to do with our trusting Him, resting in His goodness, sovereignty, etc. Maybe not so much with human kings?
