"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it." Matthew 13:45

When Mussolini needed funds to continue his campaign into Ethiopia, he appealed to the Italian people. It is said that women--fanatic in their zeal for "Il Duce"--tore rings, even wedding rings, from their fingers and threw them at the feet of their leader to be used for the futherance of his kingdom.

Our Leader has voiced some equally stern demands to those who would share his kingdom. It comes at a high price. But our jewelry boxes testify that we have not been deeply move by his pleas--neither have we given sacrificially to his campaign.

Whenever we are willing to place our most prized possessions at the feet of our King, then the kingdom of this world will speedly become the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today give at least the price of a costume pin to the Kingdom that will flourish long after all others have disappeared.

Prayer: Lord of Lords and King of Kings, forgive me, forgive me. Make plain what is required of me to build thy kingdom. And when I have given, give thou me the joy that comes with knowing my little has been used to thee. Amen.
