One Step Leads to Another

"Forgetting what lies behind and staining forward to what is ahead, I press forward on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:13-14
It is a big moment when a child first ventures to climb the stairs. Parents stand nearby to see how he makes out. Invariably the toddler will reach the top safely if he just keeps going. The last step is just as easy as the first. Trouble comes only if the child begins to wonder what business he has so high. then if he turns back, he is in for trouble.
As Christians pressing toward the goal, we can take some things from the toddler. First, our heavenly Father is standing by. Second, the struggle is not greater the higher we get; in fact, it is easier because we have experience behind us. Thirdly, it is dangerous to look back. Too often we follow our gaze.
It is a big adventure for a child to climb the stairs. It is the greatest possible adventure for any of us to ascend to God and live eternally with him.
Today move another step closer to God.
Read: Phil? 3:12-16
Pray: O Christ, though we have been born into thy kingdom, we are as infants. Stand by us a we grapple with each lesson and receive us at last. Amen.
