Birth Pangs and the Sons of God

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring, men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” (Luke 21:25 – 26)

For decades, people have written about the various “signs of the times” and how it all points to the return of the Messiah. Those decades have provided plenty to talk about and the recent past has not been exempt from those events deemed noteworthy as it relates to the end time. Just within the last couple of months we have seen a near miss asteroid that, had it struck the earth, it would have done so with the force of a large nuclear explosion. The troubling thing about this near miss was that astronomers only noticed the asteroid when it was within three days of its close call with planet earth. I’d say that qualifies as a sign in the heavens, if only a minor one....
