Endurance

Endurance

Why should I keep on trying when I feel like quitting?

1 Timothy 6:11 But you, Timothy, belong to God; so run from all these evil things, and follow what is right and good. Pursue a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

1 Peter 2:20 Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing right and are patient beneath the blows, God is pleased.

Revelation 13:10 The people who are destined for prison will be arrested and taken away. Those who are destined for death will be killed. But do not be dismayed, for here is your opportunity to have endurance and faith.

Endurance is commanded and commended by God. It is necessary to reach the goal of a life to the end to be saved.

Mark 13:13 And everyone will hate you because of your allegiance to me. But those who endure to the end will be saved.

2 Timothy 2:12 If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us.

Endurance is the sign that your faith is for real because it shows that you have eternal goals clearly in mind. The more you stop, the longer and harder it is to get where you are going.

How do I develop endurance?

2 Corinthians 1:8-9 I think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the providence of Asia. We were crushed and completely overwhelmed, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we learned not to rely on ourselves, but on god who can raise the dead.

2 Thessalonians 5:3 May the Lord bring you into a deeper understanding of the love of God and the endurance that comes from Christ.

Ephesians 6:13 Use every piece of God's armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will be standing firm.

Endurance originates with God. He is your source of power and perseverance you need to endure.

Hebrews 12: 1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

You have the example of Jesus on which to focus as your model for endurance. The next time you are tempted to give up, think of Jesus on the cross.

Romans 5: 3-5 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us – they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation. And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

James 1:2-4 Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.

Of course you don't like problems, trials, troubles and the testing of faith, for they can drag you down. But they can also life you up, and when they do, you have learned endurance.

What are the benefits of endurance?

1 Peter 2:19 for God is pleased with you when for the sake of your conscience, you patiently endure unfair treatment.

Endurance pleases God.

James 5: 11 We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. Job is an example of a man who endured patiently. From his experience we see how the Lord's plan finally ended in good, for he is full of tenderness and mercy.

Endurance honors God and his plan for you.

1 Peter 4: 13 Instead, be very glad – because these trials will make you partners with Christ in his suffering, and afterward you will have the wonderful joy of sharing his glory when it is displayed to all the world.

Hebrews 10:36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

James 1:12 God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Endurance makes you a partner with Christ in his suffering and in his glory.

1 Peter 1: 7 These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold – and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold. So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world

Endurance produces godliness, love, productivity, usefulness, growth, strength of character, preparedness, strong faith, and eternal rewards.

2 Corinthians 1: 6 So when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your benefit and salvation! For when God comforts us, it is so that we, in turn, can be an encouragement to you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.

Revelation 1: 9 I am John, your brother. In Jesus we are partners in suffering and in the Kingdom and in patient endurance. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and speaking about Jesus

Endurance encourages others, for it leads others to follow your example.

PROMISE FROM GOD: Galatians 6:9 So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.
