In our diet-conscious country bathroom scales are as common as bathtubes and probably used more often. They stand in our midst as a mute reminder that we are a people of plenty, living in a world in which half the people go to bed hungry every night. The scales can serve to remind us that our personal weight problem and the world's food problem are similar -- too much in the wrong places!
c
When we make our journey to the feet of God and hear the words "I was hungry and you gave me no food," we may have a difficult time explaining our lack of charity in view of our excess baggage. How will we ever prove that we didn't have enough to give more?
c
The only explanation for the abundance of food in our country is that God intends us to be the channel of blessing to others. When we dam up the channel and keep too much for ourselves, we not only endanger the lives of the starving, but we imperil our own health and lead to our own destruction.
c
Today make a gift to help feel the hungry.

Pray Father, we present our bodies a living sacrifice. Use them for thy purpose. In Christ's name. Amen.
